Dr. Matthew Macey

I was born and raised in Southern California and have spent my entire life in Oceanside. Growing up, I was obsessed with baseball and just about every other sport. Weekends were always filled with sporting events, whether it was my own games or cheering on my brother and sister. I played both football and baseball throughout high school. During my senior year, I suffered a severe leg injury while playing baseball. That was my first introduction to physical therapy as a career, and it ultimately inspired me to pursue the profession. Thanks to the care of my physical therapist, I was able to return to playing the game I loved.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Pre-PT from Whittier College, where I was also fortunate to continue my baseball career. After completing my undergraduate studies, I received my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA. Through my clinical experiences, I worked in a variety of settings, including general outpatient orthopedics, care for older adults, and workers’ compensation rehabilitation. Each of these experiences shaped me in different ways, but they also confirmed my passion for working with athletes and helping everyday individuals reach their goals. I am passionate about helping patients move with confidence, reduce pain, and get back to the activities that matter most to them.

Outside of the clinic, I enjoy grinding on my golf game, playing slow-pitch softball, staying active through indoor cycling or home workouts, watching sports (especially baseball, golf, and football), and spending time with my family and friends. I look forward to empowering you to achieve your goals and continue living the active lifestyle of your choosing!
